Angela Thompson is the Vice President of Human Resources for UPS’s U.S. East Region. Her responsibilities include H.R. strategic and tactical support to approximately 150,000 UPS employees in 26 states – more than a third of UPS’ global workforce. She also monitors H.R. processes to ensure a consistent and balanced implementation and provides solutions to increase profit and growth.
Angela began her UPS career in 1989 as a part-time H.R. Representative in Louisville, KY, in the district’s Air Hub, now known as Worldport. From 1989, she worked in Louisville in numerous assignments of increasing responsibility, until being promoted to district H.R. Manager in the Oregon District in January 2001. In mid-2003, Angela accepted an assignment with Mail Boxes, Etc. (aka The UPS Store) in San Diego, CA. In March 2005, Angela relocated to Mahwah, NJ, where she accepted the assignment of I.S. Human Resources Manager at UPS’s World Technology Headquarters, which was followed by an assignment as district H.R. manager in the North New Jersey District in Parsippany, NJ.
In September 2008, Angela accepted the assignment of Learning & Development Manager in the West Region in Laguna Hills, CA, later accepting an assignment as district H.R. manager in the Southern California District in August 2009. Following the corporate reorganization, she remained at this location as district H.R. manager of the new South California District until June, 2011, when she returned to the West Region as its H.R. Operations Manager. In 2014, Angela relocated back to New Jersey after accepting her current assignment as I.S. H.R. Department Manager.
Angela holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from William Penn College in IA, and a master’s degree from Webster University in MO, with a double major in Human Resources and Management.
Angela serves as a Board Member for Women In Trucking Foundation, appointed to the board of the Figure Skating in Harlem foundation and is an active member of the East Region Diversity and Inclusion Council that supports the UPS Business Resource Groups.
Jeff Hammonds is Vice-President of Walmart Transportation in Bentonville, Ark. (www.walmartstores.com) and manages one of the world’s largest Private Fleets with 7,900 drivers serving Walmart’s over 4,000 U.S. retail locations.
Jeff has served in both field and home office positions during his 18 year tenure at Walmart, including Operations Manager, General Transportation Manager, Regional Transportation Manager, and Vice-President.
He is instrumental in developing strategies which increase shareholder value and increase productivity, while providing a work environment that attracts top driving talent.

Prior to joining Walmart in 1991, Jeff was employed in the truckload transportation industry.
Jill Guenther is senior director of service and distribution for Frito-Lay North America. In this role, Jill is responsible for productivity development and supporting the day-to-day operations of Frito-Lay’s warehouse and transportation field teams. Jill brings more than 20 years of experience in warehouse and transportation to this position.
Throughout her 26-year tenure with Frito-Lay, Jill has held a variety of field and headquarters-based positions, including roles in manufacturing, warehouse and transportation. Jill has a passion for developing her teams and advancing the careers of others. She is especially passionate about fostering opportunities for other women in the transportation industry.
Jill is originally from Hartland, Wis. and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. Jill is currently based in Plano, Texas. She and her husband, Chris, and their two children currently reside in Texas.
Nicole Combs is a Sales Executive at Idealease of Atlanta, LLC. Idealease is a fully integrated transportation solutions provider supporting a fleet of more than 45,000 trucks, tractors and trailers through truck leasing, rental and dedicated maintenance solutions.
She has 12 years in the transportation industry, to include areas of excellence within the commercial PBU of Goodyear, freight brokerage at US Xpress, aftermarket-parts division of Ryder as a Business Development Manager and Southeast Account Manager at Star Leasing.
Nicole is an active member of the Tennessee Trucking Association, Northwest Georgia Transportation Club, Georgia Motor Trucking Association and the Atlanta Logistics Connection. Her volunteer work is also a driving force in her life. She volunteers with an anti-human trafficking advocacy group, Habitat for Humanity, assists with fundraising efforts for disaster-stricken regions of the United States and at a local domestic violence shelter to name a few.
She and her husband reside in the Atlanta Metro area with their three children.
Sue Godsey is the Talent Acquisition Director for Ryder System, Inc., a FORTUNE 500® Commercial Fleet Management, Dedicated Transportation and Supply Chain Solutions company. She is responsible for providing Strategic Recruitment Programs, Compliance Management and Team Leadership. Sue collaborates with human resources partners and supports internal VP clients in development and implementation of creative strategic recruitment programs to build and enhance pipeline of qualified talent. She successfully leads a national team of 40 recruiters with sourcing and hiring 2,500 technicians, supervisors, operations, sales and rental directors, and other DOT regulated and corporate leadership positions annually. Sue joined Ryder in 2011 as Diesel Mechanic recruiter and has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility, including Recruiting Team lead, HR Operations Compliance Manager, Recruiting Manager and Senior Manager of Recruiting Services. She spearheaded many initiatives that vastly improved hiring processes. She developed the “Recruiter Playbook” to share talent acquisition strategies and delivered compliance training on DOT requirements, OFCCP regulations and “Ban the Box” job application protocols. Prior to joining Ryder she spent the majority of her career in the retail apparel industry buying and operations. Sue holds her Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Merchandising from Eastern Illinois University. Sue recently married, and she enjoys gardening, reading, crafts and spending time with her five new grandchildren.
As a General Manager of National Account Sales, Theresa Payne Brown sells tractor trailers for Hyundai Translead. She has ten years’ experience in the transportation industry, including six years’ outside sales experience. In 2016 she brought in 19% of the company’s total units sold, helping elevate Hyundai Translead to the number three position among U.S. Trailer Manufacturers.
She currently holds a seat on the Board of Directors for the California Trucking Association and was most recently added to the Foundation Board for Women in Trucking. Thrilled to be a member of WIT, she is passionate about breaking down barriers and advocating for women in the industry.
Throughout her career, Theresa has demonstrated she is a leader—a leader like many women in trucking—strong and more than capable!
