The Women in Trucking Foundation operates under the oversight of a 13-member board, comprising a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, Immediate Past Chair, WIT Association Liaison, and a maximum of eight directors. Please see below for the responsibilities and expectations for director roles. We are currently accepting applications through June 30th from individuals interested in joining the board. The application form is conveniently located below the outlined roles and expectations.

Open Positions: Director (2 positions)

Term:

  • Director #1 Jan 1, 2027-Dec 31, 2029

  • Director #2 Jan 1, 2027-Dec 31, 2027 (fulfills 1-year seat vacancy term, with possibility of 3-year renewal after term concludes)

Roles and Expectations:

  • Must currently work in the trucking industry, and if selected for a board position, maintain employment in the trucking industry throughout the term

  • Attend and participate in quarterly board meetings (zoom) and emails

  • Contribute your knowledge, expertise, and connections

  • Solicit donations for the Foundation through our give/get policy (the Foundation budgets for each board member to raise at least $5,000 annually between Jan 1 – Dec 31)

  • Understand the Foundation finances and process for scholarships

  • Generate awareness of the Foundation to support goals in funding and applications, both with your own organization and externally

  • Serve in volunteer roles, such as scholarship judging, booth support at Salute or Accelerate, or work groups of the Foundation Board

  • Recruit future leaders to govern and serve on the board

  • Stay current on issues and trends impacting the organization and the membership

  • Average time commitment: 1-3 hours per month

  • Attend the quarter 4 board meeting (occurs November 3, 2026 from 3:00-4:30PM CT) as a guest, to receive orientation and ensure a smooth transition
